Telcan Corp. of Britain: (1964) State
of the art Home Video Recording from 1964! |
|
 |
Telcan VTR: It recorded using fixed heads like
an audio recorder. This is called longitudinal recording. Only a few dozen
were sold. (Correct me, if I'm wrong.) |
 |
Telcan VTR: These babies used tape like it
was going out of style! Theyripped along at 120 IPS. (Inches per second!) |
 |
Telcan VTR: Video was split into two bands,
0-.5Mhz and .5-3Mhz. Low band was recorded FM and hi-band was direct. Complex
to reassemble and equalize, no doubt. The kit came with those filter circuits
pre assembled. |
 |
Telcan VTR: A live demo for your entertainment!
Do you think the name is meant to imply "canned television"? |
 |
Telcan VTR: Every 8 to 12 minutes, the machine
would reverse direction, switch heads (like an 8 track) until 1 hour of
television had been captured or played back. |
